This Judging platform is to re-introduce the concepts of Judging Black/Latino Dance forms (combined GO OF/DOWN ROCK/BOI-YOING aka breaking) THE FUNK, SOUL, LATIN SOUL aspects of HIP HOP DANCE oct...
IF ANYTHING I HOPE TO INSPIRE THOUGHT, AND DISCUSSION. and keep the integrity of this dance. Before it is toooo late. I am not against contests, just how we judge them. We tend to make it to easy for everyone to join in and do big moves, and win. BUT if a cat dances like FROSTY or KEN SWIFT cant win a BBOY battle with FUNK and RHYTHM. Then we are hustling backwards. bless all
All dancers must have knowledge of original HIP HOP CULTURE and DANCE. Random Questions of History and the art form will be asked during all battles, to make sure mufukas know WTF this culture is about! points can be given and taken away if you don't know your shit!
1- All music must be Syncopated Funk, based off the James Brown Funk Formula. (so DJ's if its not funky, don't play it)
2A- DEDUCTIONS: If you are non rhythmic (off beat), POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED!. This means during Combinations, and AIR MOVES (power moves) all must be rhythmic to some degree. by no means will anyone pass selection That includes TOP ROCK, DROPS, FOOTWORK, COMBINATIONS, THREADS, AIR MOVES, FREEZE, and exit. EVERYTHING MUST BE DONE WITH THE FUNK IN MIND! and with rhythm! from selection to the finals.
2B- POINTS ARE GIVEN EVERY TIME A BBOY/BGIRL CATCHES THE BEAT. Higher points given to level of dificulty.
2C- points are given to BBOYS/BGIRLS who are abel to rock a solo with style, finesse and flavor. Especially during Air Moves (power moves) Maintaining your Flavor is important.
3- The Art will be judged based on the highest principles of Breaking. GO OFF and DOWN ROCK Foundation, referencing all original Moves combined with the new variations.
4- 1st Selection (audition): Must be strictly the 3 F's Foundation/ Funk/Flow (that means NO SETS!) All moves must be done Freestyle and on Beat.
5A- BATTLES WILL BE JUDGED BY 3 JUDGES and the CROWD (AUDIENCE IS THE 4th JUDGE) (because crowds were always the judge from the origin) If you can't win a crowd, you dont know the art. i dont care if the crowd is not yours. no excuse! (i was known for winning other peoples crowds! learn the art!
5B-BATTLES WILL NOT BE JUDGED ROUND BY ROUND, but by points and deductions per solo. one judge will hit a button for Points, the other will hit a button for deductions, 3rd judge will judge the over all battle, and the crowd will be the judged for (impact/execution/ and favorite)

5C- the final battle is based on the rules of LAST MAN STANDING. Period DOT! both are qualified to be there, so the last battle goes till someone quits. in the event that time has expired, the battle will be judged by the judges and crowd.
the judges will also use stamina as a point system for deductions, and points given. (still working on this one)
5D- OR WE JUST KEEP IT 3-5 JUDGES THROWING UP HANDS! WTF! This is our shiet! dont conform for corporate suit and ties.....
6- STEALING A ROUND when a dancer takes too long to respond! you can steal the round and get a point for it!
7- GOING FIRST is a POINT, the first to reach the center, and the MC will decide who hit the center first. (still working on it, i dont want fights or a sprint to the center hahaha)
8- Biting Moves exact are deductions, but must be confirmed by both judges and acknowledged by both. or else it is called a variation. (need help with how this would work) do we need a biting judge? 3 bites and your disqualified? holla
9-REFERENCING ORIGINAL MOVES FROM THE 70;S and EARLY 80'S and showing knowledge of your art form is POINTS GIVEN! (all judges must study all the original masters and learn every original move from 70-85! easy moves and hard moves are important!
10-1st SELECTION PROCESS will have at least 3 mandatory foundation references, or BBOY/BGIRL will not pass.
11-this system is free to for public use. NO ONE OWNS IT. IT IS PUBLIC DOMAIN. just call it THE ART OF GO OFF DOWN ROCK aka the AGD SYSTEM.
12- BBOYS and BGIRLS who are competing in these battles can not be a judge just because they won battles. Judges will be based on Life experience in CIPHERS/CONTESTS/TEACHING/UNDERSTANDING of TRADITIONS.
13- BATTLES WILL BE DIVIDED into PRO CARDS and AMATEUR CARD DIVISIONS. Promoters will create an ameture competition where if an young upstart can win 3 contests, make finals 5 times, or place top 8 at least 8 times. they will receive a pro card. to compete in the higher level contest.
14- ALL PROMOTERS MUST THROW A REAL JAM WITH A REAL BREAK BEAT DJ THAT KNOWS HOW TO ROCK THE CROWD, AND A REAL MC THAT KNOWS HOW TO ROCK THE PARTY, AND FOR BBOYS and BGIRLS TO ROCK TOGETHER! AS WELL AS CIPHER.
15- BBOYS/ BGIRLS THAT REFERENCE SOCIAL DANCES IN BATTLES ROCK! no points, but just saying... 😊
16) CREATIVITY: points given for each original never seen before move and or variation and or original combination.
17) BURNING/CLOWNING/ STORY TELLING. Points given for cats who know how to BURN!
18) FORM: perfect form is mandatory. but original forms are also a plus, creating new format out of original moves.
19) TOPS and DROPS are equally as important as AIR MOVES and COMBINATIONS!
20) DRESS CODE: No bums allowed! (still working on this one, hahahahaha) You can dress as you wish, but expect to get CLOWNED on if you cant match!
21) POINT DEDUCTION FOR POINTLESS ACROBATICS THAT Don't LAND INTO A FREEZE OR A MOVE.
22) POINT DEDUCTION FOR JUDGES THAT GIVE POINTS TO FAILED MOVES! (truth, i will figure this one out!! but wack judge calls will get your judge card revoked!!! or smoked by 30 young upstarts in footwork apache line!!!
23) point deduction for touching an opponent at any time! no water, no mistakes, no trying to cut a bboy/bgirl off during solos, no touching!
24) FOOTWORK IS FOOTWORK, PATTERNS AND STRUCTURES, not tricks.
25) air moves with FUNK/FLOW/FEEL/ NO EXCUSE FOR NON RHYTHMIC MOVEMENT
26) Points deducted for jumping into air moves without establishing some form of FUNK!

i will be fine tuning it asap, all discussions/ criticism is accepted. help fine tune this tool for the preservation of HIP HOP DANCE with integrity. All JUDGES should be knowledgeable in all aspects of GO OFF/ DOWN ROCK/ BOI-YOING, and all original terms.or just pick it apart and use it in your systems (i dont give a f&ck) just help get this shiet right y'all!
